Save $$ at the Ballpark: NL Central Teams

Still think you can’t afford to take the family out to a ballgame? Think again! MLB teams are almost begging you to bring the whole family to a game these days. Check each team’s website for family discounts, kids clubs, and other offers. Most of these deals are especially handy for those living in the same city as their favorite team. Sign up for one of these and you’re sure to leave the park with a ton of happy memories, but not an empty wallet.

Chicago Cubs:

Cubs Kids: I’ll be honest when I read this club’s description, I didn’t see the value in my hypothetical kid joining. But hey it’s here and an option for Cubs fans. (Membership- $37)

Dynamic Pricing:  Guess having a losing team doesn’t matter when your venue is Wrigley Field! The only option for special single ticket pricing on the Cubs website is the Budweiser Bleacher seats, so purchase early for the best deals!

Discount Days: Get a great deal when you buy in bulk! The Cubs offer a variety of deals for large groups (50+), so round up your friends!

Cincinnati Reds:

Reds Heads Kids Club: Not only do the kiddies get 4 free game vouchers, but free vouchers to city attractions and the opportunity to participate in on-field activities such as the run-on during home games! (Membership- $25)

Reds Win, You Win: The more the Reds win during their current home stand, the better savings Reds fans receive during the next. Go team!

Business Day Specials: For select home day games get a ticket for $15 and get $10 in concessions… never a better reason to play hooky!

Houston Astros:

Astros Buddies Kids Club: Two levels of membership, but the paid level gets fans 14 and younger 4 ticket coupons, Astros swag, and unique members-only opportunities! (Membership- Rookie: Free, MVP: $20)

Value Ticket Options: The Astros offer fans a ton of affordable tickets- Price Matters which get you a ticket and food for only $10, All You Can Eat for $30, Coca-Cola Zone– just like Price Matters only add in a baseball cap for $20, Guys Night Out, and Dynamic Pricing which changes daily so check back often!

Milwaukee Brewers:

Brewers Kids Club: Great value for fans 14 and under- 6 ticket vouchers, a spot in the on the field parade, entered into a monthly drawing, and a discount on select Brewers gear. (Membership- $25)

Fan Value Corner: Find deals on tickets for fans of all ages including Family Days for only $50, Kids and Seniors Discounts, $8 Miller High Life Mondays, and Student Nights.

Season Long Promotions: As if the above values aren’t good enough, the Brewers offer even more ticket specials like $1 Uecker seats (available day of the game when gates open, limited, obstructed view) at every game and 2 for 1 tickets to select games for Associated Bank Brewers Checking customers.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

Bucaroos Kids Club: This club has two levels but both offer 4/2 free ticket vouchers and 8/6 buy one get one ticket vouchers. The Gold level also hooks fans 14 and younger up with some sweet Pirates gear! (Membership- Gold: $15, Silver: Free)

Dynamic Pricing: 1,400 bleacher tickets go on sale 10 days prior to the game, make sure you buy early to save big!

Lunch with the Bucs: Head over to PNC Park for lunch during select weekday games- tickets are $16/$24 and include a $5/$10 food voucher.

PNC Bank Check Card Games: PNC Bank customers can enjoy up to $10 off tickets to select games by ordering online and entering the first six digits of their PNC Check Card number in the ticket purchase window. Giant Eagle Card holders have the same offer too!

Pepsi Max Pack: This value pack rocks- get a ticket, hot dog, pretzel, and Pepsi all for $24! And it’s for Friday and Saturday nights… can you say date night??

Beer Passport at PNC Park: Do you like going to baseball games? Do you like sampling craft beers? Well, the Pirates can offer you both for only $45. This deal includes a ticket (in Pittsburgh Baseball Club section- regularly $50), beer sampling, and a $5 food credit. Home run!

  1. Alicia, This is a great idea for a blog and extremely well done! Very informative and very well written. With all the media attention on how expensive a live experience is (and yes, to be sure, one can drop serious dollars at any MLB ballpark), it really helps fans to know that it is still possible to have a great experience at a reasonable price. I am adding a link to your site on my home page. Hope it helps it some small way. Keep up the great work!

  2. Sweet idea for a blog. I’m pretty young but I have a modest collection of ballparks attended and I’m always looking for more. With this information it might be a little easier for me, so thank you. You are a master of industry.

  3. Good read! As a Cubs fan I cannot wait to get out to Wrigley for a series or two! I’ve never been being from New York. Also, agree with others this is a good concept for a blog, keep it up!
